One roster for everything in your rig — pedals, amps, cabs, patch panels, power supplies, computers, MIDI controllers, and cables. The Gear tab is where you define what you have and how RigWork talks to it.
Click + Add Device to open the picker. For pedals, start by typing your pedal name — the picker fuzzy-matches against the built-in library. If your pedal is there, selecting it pre-fills the device form with the correct MIDI channel format and all CC parameters with accurate labels and default values. Built-in templates include:
Every device has a kind — what it physically is. Kind drives the layout, power display, and organization:

Your rig can have multiple pedalboards. Each device can be assigned to one (or more) boards. Use the Pedalboard dropdown in the device form to assign.
To quickly move a shelf item to a board: click → Board on the gear card and pick the board from the list. No need to open the full edit form.
The filter chips above the gear list let you narrow the view:
Each device shows as a card in the roster. Badges on the card tell you at a glance:

Drag cards by the ⠿ handle to reorder the roster. Order here = order in the Tweak tab and the MIDI map.
Click ⊙ Editor on any device card with CC params. The CC editor slides in from the right:
To add a custom CC: click + Add control at the bottom, enter the CC number and a label.
Many hardware devices have their own internal preset banks — like a reverb pedal with 50 programs saved to ROM. Use Presets on the device card to document these:
The Chain context field in a device's Edit form lets you document non-obvious dependencies — things that only work because of some other piece of gear in the chain:
"Mercury7 shimmer tone requires Timmy at 9 o'clock — if Timmy is off, it sounds thin"
"Noise gate insert on FX loop; only use when amp gain > 50%"
"This chorus only works in stereo mode — right output into delay"
Chain notes appear in the Show Mode Setup panel for every song, and in the Show Bible. They're permanent notes about the device, not per-song.
Set the mA value on each device to track total power draw per board. The Rig Layout shows a power budget summary per board when you've set mA values. Match these to your PSU's per-output ratings to catch potential power issues before they become stage problems.
If you've built your pedalboard layout in the GP Tools Pedalboard tool, click Export for RigWork in GP Tools to download a rig-export.json file. Then in RigWork, click ↑ Import Rig in the Gear tab and select the file. RigWork:
